Speed Guitar Picking - Technique for the Right Hand Matters

Guitar speed picking techniques as demonstrated by your guitar heroes most times aren't the kind of techniques you want to imitate in your own playing style.

It's one thing to play with the flittering wrist technique the way Eddie Van Halen plays... but he's been playing since he was about 12 years old for about 10 hours solid a day. Are you ready to make that kind of commitment to making your own playing style? No? Good... because honestly that's the long hard way to learn to play and master the guitar.

The smart way to learn guitar is to learn proper left and right handed technique from the beginning. Buying a set of DVD lessons from a comprehensive set of lessons that range from introductory right through Metal Godz levels ensures a consistent teaching style and playing method. I highly recommend the Metal Method Complete Basic Course for that purpose. When you've gone ahead and become truly competent as a guitarist and you want more (see the Speed Kills lesson series of Metal Method). Speed guitar picking technique involves both proper left AND right handed technique. Most guitarists ignore the right hand and focus on the left hand. Get the right hand properly involved and future mastery of the instrument won't involve re-learning how to use your right hand properly.
